HOW MAXALDING CAME TO BE

Accounts vary slightly with the exact dates of events surrounding the formation of Maxalding. Here in chronological order are the main events:

26th October 1909 - Max Sick comes to London.
19th January 1910 - Max Sick gives demonstration at Apollo-Saldo School in London.
29th January 1910 - The demonstration is reported in Strength & Health and Maxick & Saldo advertise on the inside front page.
They also announce the change of name from Max Sick to Maxick.
1911 - The books 'How to become a Great Athlete' & 'Muscle Control' are both published (assumed in that order) - There is no mention of
'Maxaldo' or 'Maxalding' in either publication only 'The Maxick-Saldo System'.

1911 (assumed) Publication of illustrated booklet 'Health, Strength & Will Power by Maxick & Saldo'. This 36 page publication refers not
only to the Maxick-Saldo System but also to 'Maxaldo' and the 'Maxaldo Muscle-Control Competition'. It does not, however, make
any mention of Maxick's books.

It is still not known exactly when the name 'Maxalding' was first used .
Although the Maxalding literature used to announce 'Established 1909' this really refers to the partnership rather than the trade name.

On January 19th 1910 Max Sick gave his famous demonstration at the Apollo-Saldo School in Great Newport Street, Central London. This was reported in the Jan 29th 1910 edition of Health & Strength, just 10 days later.

Monte Saldo & Max Sick obviously wasted no time for on the inside front page of the same issue of Health & Strength appeared the following full page advertisment.

Note that this advert also announces Max Sick's change of name to Maxick.

This advert was issued 1 year before the publication of 'Muscle Control'

Edward Aston, who was present at the meeting then issued a challenge which was printed immediately underneath the report.

Tromp van Diggelen, who was also present wrote an article in the same magazine. This is part of it, which mentions Max Sick.
